What is a Flying Pig?
A flying pig is the ultimate symbol of turning the impossible into reality.
Historically rooted in the classic idiom βwhen pigs flyββa sarcastic phrase used to mock something that could absolutely never happenβthe flying pig has evolved from a punchline into a powerful emblem of defiance, imagination, and triumph over doubt. It represents the magical moment when limitations are shattered and the unthinkable takes flight.
No one captured this spirit better than the legendary American author John Steinbeck. Early in his life, a professor told Steinbeck that he would only become a successful writer "when pigs fly." Decades later, as a Nobel Prize-winning author, Steinbeck got the last laugh. He adopted "Pigasus"βa stamp of a whimsical, winged pigβas his personal logo. He paired the drawing with the ironic Latin motto Ad astra per alia porci ("To the stars on the wings of a pig"). For Steinbeck, Pigasus was a symbol of the human soul: heavy and earthbound, but possessing the magical desire to fly.
So, what is a flying pig? It is a reminder that no matter how heavy the odds or how loud the skeptics, your wildest dreams can still take wing.
